Viral Thread Plan: How I Wrote a Thread That Got 64K Views
My goal with this newsletter is to give a lot of value to like-minded creators and builders in Web3. Whatever I learn, I want to teach you too so 1) I can learn better and 2) give back by teaching you. Everything I share is strategies and plans that work that I either used myself or studied enough to see obvious patterns.
In the following, I want to show you how I wrote a viral thread so you can do the same. Two weeks ago I looked at some of the most successful writers in Web3 to figure out why they did so well, which is a habit I've started over the years. After writing about what I learned, I looked at how to make things go viral generally.
The Importance of Controversial Timing
But after seeing virality firsthand, I need to update my idea, or at least be more specific. Timing is most important, but timing also matches the right topic at the right time. With my viral thread "FOMO playbook exposed," I timed my thread so Twitter had to show it to many people. The reason: My thread would show controversial parts of the Persona marketing playbook.
I posted the thread exactly one day after Persona minted. I wasn't minting the NFT anyway so I could be neutral compared to the divided opinions about the mint. One side was people who minted Persona, so they didn't criticize it. The other side didn't mint, so they tried to bring it down because they couldn't get one.
My thread topic was perfect for all those who missed minting and wondering about the marketing, but it mostly attracted people who lost money.
The Formula for Virality
So I need to update my idea of timing a topic well to timing a controversial topic specifically. The rest of the formula still works: I targeted a big audience (everyone talking about Persona, a brand with 330k Twitter followers) and used a known brand in my thread (Persona).
This exact formula for virality works on any social platform (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok). Talking about controversial things usually gets views.
The key is giving your perspective in a thoughtful way that moves the conversation forward, without being rude. Help people see new sides to the issue they haven't thought of before. With this approach, a viral post can teach audiences new ideas instead of just making people angry.

On top of all this, we're also regularly meeting with potential partners, investors, and publishers. With the game market heating up, we want to secure the funding to fully achieve our vision for Vallarok. The game's potential is endless, and player demand is sky-high.
